“Kombit” (also referred to as “koumbit” or “konbit”) is Haitian-Créole and refers to a traditional form of cooperative, communal labour. This Haitian tradition requires partnership and collaboration regardless of the project and contributes to the spirit of community and unity through shared achievement.
Kombit in it’s truest sense embodies the idea of working together to create something that would not be achievable without a wider community.

Jean-Paul Peters
Born and raised in Haiti until he moved to the UK as a teenager, Jean-Paul ("JP") is a former banker with more than 25 years’ experience in financial services.
​
During his varied and multi-disciplined career, he has gained knowledge of banking and financing solutions across numerous sectors and product lines.
​
JP spent 14 years supporting RBS International’s Fund clients, responsible for the bank’s relationships with leading Private Equity Fund sponsors.
Latterly, he led the business through a 5-year period of unprecedented growth, delivered by creating a culture which took the bank's relationship-led approach to the next level and encouraged his team to think outside the box, creating bespoke solutions to meet clients' individual needs.

Having been a deal team leader, relationship banker, credit officer and pricing / credit committee member, JP has been involved in the design, structuring and execution of hundreds of transactions for Funds in all sectors. He has helped deliver a number of innovative deals and led the banks’ participation in a number of ESG-linked facilities, which at the time was new to the global fund finance market as a whole.

JP has since developed a keen interest in this area and now uses his knowledge of sustainability-linked financing solutions to help our clients meet their ESG objectives, as well as helping them to navigate the increasingly complex fund banking and financing ecosystem.
